I started with the shower. I turned the water off to the house and went to work. I didn't make it very far before hitting a snag. The nut I needed to remove on the valve housing was so tight I could not remove it. It would not budge...even with quite a bit of pressure on it. I stopped because I was afraid I would cause damage to something else and figured I would research it some before I tried something else. I went outside and turned the water back on only to hear Jen hollering that she could hear water running but doesn't see it. OH CRAP!
I ran back out and shut the water off but the damage was done. I had twisted too hard and broke the water valve in the wall behind the shower. We called a plumber and he came to cap the lines so we could have water in the rest of the house. One hole in the wall later we are waiting for a valve so it can be installed later this week. At least the hole is in Jen's closet.

After many words I dare not repeat here I started on the faucet. I replaced all the rings and washers on the valve but still could not stop the leak. I went back to Home Depot but could not find a replacement valve for it, so we ended up buying a new faucet. Well, there are two faucets in that bathroom and we could not find one to match, so we actually bought two.

What started off as a $40 repair ended up costing us over a thousand dollars. That's one expensive weekend.
