Garner State Park Day 3

Today was the day we conquered "Old Baldy". It is the best known rock in the area and another pretty steep climb.

It was a great day to be hiking...low 70s, sunny, and a slight breeze. We headed out, stopping from time to time to rest and admire the view on the way up.

Tradition is to pick up a rock before you start your journey and then leave it at the top once you get there. Here are Brayden and Alayna dropping their rocks onto the pile.

The view from the top is amazing! It was well worth the hike. The pictures above show the view from both sides. The panoramic picture shows the Frio River. It is a natural spring river, so the water is unbelievably clear and cold. The weather was not quite warm enough for us to get in this trip...hopefully the next one.
