McKinney Falls State Park

We spent our Thanksgiving at McKinney Falls State Park just outside of Austin. It was our first trip here. It's a great little park! They had flooding here a little over a month ago...some serious flooding the way it looks. There are trees broken off 8 feet above the ground in the area we were hiking yesterday. There is a lot of debris that still needs to be cleared, but the beauty of the park shines through.

We started our hike at the upper falls.

The trail wound us through the park on the upper side for 3 miles. We even found a couple geocaches along the way.

We checked out the lower falls as well. There are more trails by the lower falls that we will be hiking next! We also hope to get a little fishing in.

Our day ended with a hobo dinner Thanksgiving feast and then games and popcorn in the camper. It was a different Thanksgiving for sure...but a great one!
