Alayna's Room Make-over

We took advantage of the long weekend to get some work done in Alayna's room. She is running out of space! She needed more storage for all of her things. We decided to give her a wall of shelving.



We started off with the wall that has the window. It had 2 small bookshelves there already plus her desk under the window. We removed the bookshelves and started off.



I built two 8-foot tall bookshelves, each 38" wide to flank the window and desk. Jen and Alayna painted them and then we installed them. There was an outlet on the wall so I decided to move it up about 2 feet and add an extra set of plugs. I then built them into the bookshelf for her TV. Special thanks to Adam for answering my wiring questions!



Here's the final product. We think they turned out pretty good. Jen wants me to make something above the window to join the shelves together and hold a curtain rod. That will be the next thing on the list...
