State Park Day Trip

We hopped in the truck and took a day trip to investigate a couple state parks this weekend. We traveled northwest about 100 miles to Bastrop State Park and Buescher State Park. They are located about 10 miles apart from each other.

There were many great trails to hike in Bastrop but it was sad to see what the fire in 2011did to the park. What was once a lush pine forest is now sparse. It will take years to clean up and tens of years to restore.
















10 miles south is Buescher State Park. The fire didn't make it that far. It is lush and beautiful. There is a big lake in the middle for fishing and canoeing. We are definitely going back to camp!
