Our New Garden

Jen has been talking about doing something new on the side of the house for some time now. We put a rock garden in when we first moved into the house and it was definitely time for an upgrade. The area is right by our kitchen so we look out at it all the time. Jen had the design in her head and she did a great job of creating it for real! She talked about how my mom has all the "extras" in her garden area and how it added so much character to it. The whole family worked on this project over the course of a couple of days.

The items we used in the area came from a number of places, some new...some old. In this picture, the planter came from Christmas this year from Jen's mom and dad. It is sitting on a chair that came from the old shop at the farm.

The jug, yoke, and pot all came from the farm as well. These were some of the treasures we picked up the year we had the sale.

We already had the barrel. The coffee pot was from our camping gear. I made the mistake while we were camping this weekend to say that I thought it would look good in the garden. Now we have to go buy a new one before we camp next time...

The leaf is made of concrete. We received that for Christmas this year from Lindy and LaMae also. Jen wanted it to be a focal point for the area...looks great!

We finished off the area with a new bench and some small tables. Jen said she wanted someplace to sit and enjoy her coffee in the morning. I tried it out with a beer this evening after we finished everything...works well with cold beverages as well. Thank goodness because I am not a coffee drinker!
