We have been talking about getting a piano for some time. Alayna has many gifts (in this non-biased opinion), one of which is in the arts. She loves to draw, sing, dance, and play any instrument she can get her hands on. I had been looking on Craig's List for a piano but was having a hard time because I know nothing about pianos. I didn't want to buy something that was a piece of junk but didn't want to spend too much.
Early in February Jen received an email from a colleague at work. Their 2 children were now grown up and away at college. She said they were looking to give their piano away. The piano had been passed down to them by friends years ago because there were "no little fingers left in the house to play it." The same had come to pass at her house so she was looking to carry on the tradition. With the help of some friends we had that piano moved in the next weekend. They wouldn't accept any payment for it. They said they received it free and just wanted it to have a happy home. We love it. Jen is getting back into playing a little and Alayna spends as much time as she can there. Even I like to sit and play once in a while.
Listening to the sound move throughout the house brings back wonderful memories of when Dad was alive and asking my sisters to play. It brings a tear to my eye every time I think of it as I know he is up in heaven listening now...
