Jen was telling me that Alayna's PE teacher was asking her if/where Alayna played basketball and how much we work with her at home. She was surprised when Jen told her we didn't play basketball. I had been thinking about buying a basketball goal to put in the driveway...this just pushed the time line up a bit. We decided on the in-ground model. A few choice words could be heard when, after digging only 6 inches down, I ran into at least 3 inches of rock I had to bust through with a mini sledge hammer. That was oodles of fun. I did eventually get the hole dug, cement poured, and goal together.
Both Alayna and Brayden seem to enjoy playing. Both are actually quite good at dribbling already. We are working on how to pass correctly. Shooting, as you all know, is the most fun, though. The basket adjusts down to 7 1/2 feet so they can both shoot at it already. Brayden has to use a small ball at this time but he is getting better every day. Alayna does seem to have a good understanding of the game. She likes to play PIG against either Jen or me. If you keep it within 7 feet, she can take you down. You know what this means...another activity may be in our future! She is going to have to start making some choices early in life. How do you (or your child) decide what activities to do? You just can't do them all...
In the meantime, the whole family (and some of our neighbors) are enjoying spending some time outside "shootin' hoops."
