We left Mesa Verde Sunday morning and made our way to The Grand Canyon.

We did make a stop along the way at the Four Corners. Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah all meet at one point that they call the Four Corners. The kids were in 4 different states at one time for the pictures above! It was one of the places they wanted to stop.

We came into the canyon via the Desert View entrance. It was raining a bit but we made our way to the viewing area and caught our first glimpse. It is humbling to think God and nature have created this mass of beauty in front of us.

We stopped at a couple random overlooks as we made our way to our campsite. Each spot seemed to show another magical part of the canyon.
Our drive took us past the big visitor center, so we stopped in to check things out. We took in a movie about the Grand Canyon and how it formed, then the kids participated in a junior ranger session.
We were quite tired from the hiking and traveling we have been doing in past days so we decided to make our way to the campsite and set up camp. It, of course, started raining on us again, but luckily it was no more than a sprinkle. The tent seemed to do OK this time, but we are holding our breath every time we feel or hear a drop! It is sprinkling again now as I type. I am hoping the rain can hold off a couple more days.

Our excitement for the evening came in the form of an elk. This big beauty wandered right into our neighbor's campsite and stayed for over a half-hour eating leaves off the trees. It was quite a site to behold!
We will be here for the next two days. We plan to hike some trails. More updates are to come...as Internet access allows. We don't have reception in many places so far including our campsite.
