National Park Tour- Yellowstone Day 1

After a day of driving we arrived at the east gate of Yellowstone around 4:00. We were camping on the west side so we had a beautiful drive right from the start. It took us a bit longer than we anticipated as we had to wait for a buffalo to cross the road in front of us!

We headed to Old Faithful first. The geyser did not disappoint us!

We spent some time walking around the area checking out the other geysers and the natural springs bubbling out of the ground. The kids were amazed that the water coming from the earth can be so hot!

We bought National Park Passports for the kids before we started our journey. They can get a cancellation stamp for each park. We had the passports stamped and bought a Yellowstone sticker as well.

By the time we were finished wandering around the Old Faithful area it was 8:00, so we made our way to the Madison Junction campground and set up camp. We needed to make sure we had everything sealed up to keep the bears from showing interest! Above is our view from our site.

We ended our day talking about what we had experienced. The kids then wrote in their National Park Field Journal. I would love to finish every day like this!
